Sacraments

Celebrating the sacraments is at the core of our parish life. Our big moments in life are marked in a solemn way from womb to tomb.

Here we provide all the details for the celebration of the sacraments in our parish.

Baptism

Baptisms are held every Sunday at 1pm in St. Senan’s Church. For other times by arrangement with the Parish Office. It is a requirement of any parent presenting there child for Baptism that they have completed the parish Baptismal Program. This takes place in the Community Centre at 8.30 pm the first Thursday of every month. A booking form is available for the Parish Office

First Communion

First Holy Communions takes place in May each year. As part of our preparation for First Penance and First Holy Communion, we run in tandem a parish based program, ‘Do this in Memory’.

This program is a continuous program, connecting the classroom with the home and the parish. As part of the program, there are Information Night, (where we meet the parents), an Enrolment Ceremony for you and your child, and there are Sundays set aside where you and your child will have some participation in the Sunday Mass.

It is also hoped that you and your child will frequent mass regularly as your child prepares for this special day.

Confirmation

Confirmation takes place each year at a date given by Bishops Office. For the Children preparing for Confirmation, there is ‘Faith Friends’, another parish based programme, linking home and parish, through a number of meetings for your child exploring the Sacrament of Confirmation, and looking forward to life after primary school.

It is hoped that you as a parent, will take an active role in helping your child prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation by frequenting mass regularly and taking an active role in this special time in your child’s life.

The ongoing life of the church depends on vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Our diocese has a director of vocations and we’d be delighted to make an introduction for any interested candidates. Feel free at any stage to chat with any of the parish clergy.

Funerals

On the death of a loved one please contact the parish office or either of the priests of the Parish and we will guide you through all that you need to do.

Here in the parish we also have a bereavement support team who would be only too glad to visit you and to give you support through a listening ear.
