  St. Senan's Re-Opens

It was a bright summer's evening on Monday 30th July 2007 when a member of the Parish Pastoral Council officially asked Fr. Sheedy to re-open the Church so that all could return back into their place of worship.

When the doors were opened, all who entered were delighted by the beautifully restored interior of the church. It was, and is, a testimony of vision and hard work by some many people since it's inception ten years ago.

With a newly restored church in place, it seemed only fitting to give its people an opportunity to be renewed as well. Without a people of faith, a church, no matter how beautiful, is only a building.

Each evening of that same week, everyone was invited to attend a series of short services of prayer and reflection, based upon the story of creation. There were opportunities to be reconciled back to God, renew baptismal and marital vows and have the sick and recently baptised babies blessed; it was about re-dedicating ourselves to God that he might lead us in our journey of faith.

It was a spiritually refreshing week that reached a crescendo when Bishop Willie Walsh (joined by many visiting clergy) came to bless the Church in a beautiful re-dedication ceremony on Sunday 5th August 2007 at 3 o'clock.

A sincere and genuine thank you to everybody who helped in any and every way with making the re-opening of St. Senan's a possibility; it is now part of Kilrush's history and a gift for future generations.
