At 11:30 on New Years eve, some 200 people gathered in the Community Centre to say goodbye to the old year and to welcome in the new year. It is hard to believe that the Community Centre could look so beautiful. The altar and sanctuary were lit up with numerous candles, and the atmosphere was both sacred and inviting.

The service involved music, hymns, a ritual of lighting and spreading the New Year flame, reflections, the sign of peace and the anointing with oil. Afterwards, everybody wished each other all the very best for the coming year as light refreshments were served at the back.

Thank you to everybody who attended, helped or otherwise came along and made this service something really special in the midst of a cold, winters night. Surely there is no better place to be than in the presence of The Lord as he walks with us into the new year.
